The beauty and abundance of the Land of Israel are given special meaning on the exquisite Pure Gold “Land of the Deer” medal struck in honor of the 60th Anniversary of Israeli Independence.
The Biblical promise of the heritage of the Land of Israel “a pleasant land” (Jeremiah 3:19) is combined with the Seven Species which represent the beauty and abundance of the “land of milk and honey”. Eretz Israel is likened in the Bible to a deer because of its beauty – and indeed a graceful deer stands proudly in the center of the medal. A heart occupies the place of Jerusalem, the heart of the nation, on the map of Israel – a unique hologramic heart that changes color when the medal is moved in the light. On the medal face appears the official logo of the 60th Anniversary celebrations.
