Comments

The earliest traces of occupation of the site date back to Roman times. During the Moorish conquest of the Iberian Peninsula, Pombal retained its function as a military fortress and was occupied by Muslims until the 12th century, when they were expelled during the Reconquista. Like other Templar fortresses, it was intended to protect the lands and populations in the territories south of the Rio Montego, territories entrusted first to the Order of the Temple, then to the Order of Christ.

 

2025 marks the 10th Anniversary of the Zero Euro Banknote Collection launched in 2015
