Baldwins of St. James: "Sir Robert Muir (1864-1959), pioneering Scottish immunologist. The B.M.J. for January 1931 records that "On the afternoon of Tuesday, January 20th, in the Randolph Hall of the University of Glasgow, Sir Frederick Gowland Hopkins, President of the Royal Society, presented to Professor Robert Muir, M.D., F.R.S., on behalf of the subscribers, his portrait in oils by G. Fiddes Watt, R.S.A., and to the University a bust by G. H. Paulin, A.R.S.A....". The medal would seem to date from the same time."
