Series: Ukrainian Heritage
The obverse of the coin is divided into four sectors by intersecting lines forming a cross – a sacred symbol that stands for the unity of existence that bridges heaven and earth. Each sector represents the art of pysanka-painting prevalent in Polissia and depicts ornaments characteristic of the region. Specifically, Rivne oblast (bottom left) features waves, a net, and comb-like protrusions (like the teeth of rakes); Volyn oblast (top left) a star fragment, dots, comb-like protrusions, the sun, and waves; Zhytomyr oblast (top right) comb-like protrusions and the sun; and Kyiv oblast (bottom right) spirals and a net.

The reverse of the coin depicts an Easter egg with a traditional ornament of the Chernihiv region (Polissya) - a rose (dawn). It symbolizes the sun, fire and light, which personify life, well-being, energy and the spring awakening of nature. The symbolism of the reverse motif is complemented by colors: red - a symbol of strength, health and energy, traditionally considered a powerful amulet; black - a symbol of the earth, fertility, family memory and protection
