10 EURO
Translation: Federal Republic of Germany
Designer: Patrick Niesel
The coin depicts a life-saving emergency in a central and detailed manner. The scene is framed by a well-executed representation of the emergency vehicles, ambulances, and rescue helicopters. An ECG line forms the horizon of the image, terminating at the right edge of the coin with the emergency vehicle and the Europe-wide emergency number 112. The winning design is compelling because it foregrounds the people involved in the rescue while still providing ample space for the emergency equipment. The realistic depiction of the scene on the sidewalk conveys authenticity. The highly precise and detailed rendering of the individuals allows for identification with the emergency responders.
