468 BOMB GROUP
OFFICERS BAR
As. 2. 1944
The 468th Bombardment Group was a legendary unit of the U.S. Army Air Forces during WWII. It was part of Project Matterhorn, the first effort to bomb the Japanese home islands using the B-29 Superfortress. In 1944, this group was based in the Kharagpur area of West Bengal, India. From there, they flew grueling missions over "The Hump" to staging bases in China, and then on to targets in Japan.
