Loki, the shapeshifting lord of chaos, is honoured on the third bullion bar in our epic collection honouring the Norse gods. Cunning and unpredictable, Loki is an ambiguous figure as sometimes he is allied with the gods of Asgard, whereas on other occasions he is the main source of their problems. His role in the death of Baldr is a major factor in precipitating Ragnarök, the apocalyptic event known as the twilight of the gods.
This silver minted bullion bar features a detailed and skilled illustration of Loki, which captures the figure’s mischievous nature and features motifs from the myths in which he plays a central role. A wry smile is visible upon Loki’s face as he clutches a sprig of mistletoe, the plant he uses to fashion an arrow that causes the death of Baldr. One of his monstrous children Jörmungandr, the gigantic serpent that encircles the earth, is coiled around the branches beneath Loki’s feet.
