Comments

The 58th Battalion was an Australian Army infantry unit originally raised during World War I that saw extensive action on the Western Front, particularly at Fromelles and Polygon Wood . In the interwar period and World War II, it served as a Victoria-based citizen militia unit that eventually deployed to New Guinea and Bougainville to fight Japanese forces.
