At first glance, the 1 franc KM#55a is identical to the KM#55. The difference can be seen by checking the weight or measuring the density of the part.

Unlike type L#305, KM#55 , the silver Jean 1 franc never circulated and was only sold in boxes together with the types KM#45b, KM#46.2a, KM#51a, KM#56a, KM#57a and KM#58a.
