Comments

The total disappearance of fractional currency in Olot imposed the need to create smaller values to facilitate changes and the Municipal Government Commission agreed, in a session of September 8, 1037, to issue metallic coins of values 10 and 15 Centimos for a total amount of 6,250 Pesetas. This agreement was ratified by the Plenary Session of the Municipal Council on September 24, 1937.
These coins were minted in iron by the Vilaseca i Bassa blacksmith shop in Barcelona. Due to the material (iron without any alloy) the minting was very problematic so the coins in many cases are very defective and, in the case of the 15 Centimos especially (but not only), many did not circulate, believing that the total value of the minted in circulation may be around a hundred coins of the 25,000 initially planned.
