The build up of information related to the production and circulation of cast copies of Roman denarii modelled on first–third-century official types from the territory of the Chernyakhiv archaeological culture has been reinforcing the tendency towards the formation of new information realities, which in some cases encourage the revision of established numismatic schemes and traditional theories. The continuation within the framework of the Moneta Barbaricum programme of a regular monitoring of Ukrainian internet resources to track and record new finds, has made it possible to carry on verifying and organizing basic data, and identifying the location of production centres, particularly between the Middle Dniester and Southern Bug. The growing assemblage of cast coins and metalworking debris (sprues, slag), bars of non-ferrous metal — is being used to develop methods of elemental composition study of alloys, and quantitative and qualitative statistical analysis; and also, to encourage their transfer to museum collections. The introduction of new materials related to the production and circulation of cast copies of Roman denarii of the first–third centuries into the scholarly debate, together with a comprehensive analysis of sources, are helping to improve our understanding of the political, economic, and ethno-cultural contacts of the Empire with barbarian tribes on a new factual basis.
