Abstract

The article discusses the Abkhazian Museum's part of the Gerzeul hoard of silver coins of Caesarea in Cappadocia discovered in 1926 in the the Suhumi district of Abkhazia. The Gerzeul Hoard, consisting of more than 467 silver coins, of which 91 were purchased by the Museum, was deposited under Marcus Aurelius, probably during the eastern campaigns of Lucius Verus, in the period between AD 163, when the Romans confirmed Sohaemus as king of Armenia, and AD 168, during the revolt of Tiridates, or sometime later.
