in 2019, Richard Smith published the book ‘The Coinage of the Anglo Hanoverian Personal Union 1714-1837’. In it, he dealt on the one hand with the politics of George I's succession to the British throne and the history of the ruling family. Secondly, he listed all the coins issued from 1714-1837. The publication of the book considerably stimulated interest in this numismatic period. New discoveries and types had come to light, new years of issue were identified and some numismatic mysteries were uncovered. Richard Smith decided to publish another book dealing solely with the coinage; however, he died in 2021 and was unable to complete his work. The Frankfurter Münzhandlung is now publishing his second work on the royal coinage of the Duchy of Brunswick-Lüneburg during the personal union with Great Britain, based on Smith's extensive notes and his collection of coins and medals.
