Bolivia issued a set of 4 coins, towards the territorial claims to Chile, for the region they took from Bolivia; out of the territorial question, the importance for Bolivia is that region was their access to sea. Nowadays Bolivia has no seashores. This is the first time Bolivia issues commemorative circulating coins.

Los Colorados de Bolivia is a infantry regiment created over 200 years ago, and the one named to escort the President.

Colorados took part in several battles of the Pacific War, including Tacna, the image of this coin is part of the painting of Avelino Nogales, "Los Colorados del 80" (The Colorados of 80's)
