The reverse is inscribed in a version of the pre-Hellenic Mycenaean "linear-b" script, which may indicate an ancient connection between Earth and Mars.
This most unusual fantasy coin is based on Edgar Rice Burroughs fictional story starting with "A Princess of Mars", which Disney recently made into the movie "John Carter". The story goes that the coins were found deep in a cave in the desolate hills of the Nevada desert. The unusual oblong silver coin pictures the nude Dejah Thoris, the princess of Helium, holding a sword and dagger. Helium is one of the realms on Barsoom. Barsoom is the what the Martians call their planet. The reverse is inscribed in a version of the pre-Hellenic Mycenaean "linear-b" script, which may indicate an ancient connection between Earth and Mars, as was proposed in Erich von Däniken book "Chariots of the Gods". The coin is denominated as 10 Pi, a denomination mentioned in the books. It is approximately 25mm long, weighs 5 grams, and is struck in .999 fine silver. The coins appear to be lightly circulated, perhaps from having been used on Mars before somehow being teleported to Earth.
