In 1350, new issues of the Zhongtong Yuanbao Jiaochao were issued (sometimes called the Zhizheng Yuanbao Jiaochao to differenciate them from the earlier issues) to compensate for the ever-increasing inflation, with 1 Zhongtong being equal to 2 Zhiyuan. These Zhongtong notes were the first in Yuan history to have the reserves based on the actual bronze coins (rather than being based on silver and gold or silk).
These notes were issued using the old Zhongtong printing blocks, but they are differenciable by having the Zhizheng seal on them.
