The tolerance of the weight was 1.5%.

  • broad rim (Cross near the rim)
     
  • narrow rim (cross away from the rim)
     

Note that the size of the cross remains the same on both types, only the thickness of rim changes.
The 1987 with the narrow rim does not exist. Unless proof of the contrary, the 1987 mintage is in the wide rim.

The Luxembourg Monetary Institute, established in 1983, has the task of issuing currencies, managing circulation and monitoring the financial sector. The coins of 1 franc KM#59 and 5 francs KM#60 were the first coins issued by the IML.
