Similar to the Model Four Shillings coins, the "retro" pattern Five Shillings coins were produced in a separate series. The coins' portrait of George III is modelled exactly after the original sculpted by Conrad Heinrich Küchler. 500 coins were minted in copper, bronzed copper, golden alloy, pewter, aluminium, and nickel silver in total.
