Comments

Note: coins were distributed mainly in Norway by local coin distributor (some of coins available also via Isle of Man Post Office: locally on the island and via their website). On the original certificates of authenticity (in Norwegian) composition was stated as silver plated bronze. However the IOM government acts (Currency determination) says that core of these coins (high relief 32.6g) is made from tombac (Cu85Zn15 = Brass).

Olaf Tryggvason (960s – 9 September 1000) was King of Norway from 995 to 1000. He was the son of Tryggvi Olafsson, king of Viken (Vingulmark, and Rånrike), and, according to later sagas, the great-grandson of Harald Fairhair, first King of Norway. He is numbered as Olaf I.

The coin was given the appearance of an antique finish.
