Description

This set celebrates the central office of the National Bank of Ukraine – a historic building and a real architectural gem of the city of Kyiv, which was built to a design by the architects Oleksandr Kobelev and Oleksandr Verbytskyi in 1902–1905. The National Bank of Ukraine is an open, independent, and modern institution. It is also a special central body of public administration, the main task of which is to ensure price and financial stability with a view to promoting the sustainable economic development of Ukraine. The NBU has a monopoly on printing the domestic currency – the hryvnia. The set comprises low-denomination 10 and 50 kopiika coins; 1, 2, 5 and 10 hryvnia circulation coins; and the commemorative medal “The National Bank of Ukraine. 115 Years since the Construction of the Building.” The 10 and 50 kopiika coins are made of brass-plated low-carbon steel, the 1 and 2 hryvnia coins are made of nickel-plated low-carbon steel, the 5 and 10 hryvnia coins are made of nickel-plated zinc-based alloy, and the commemorative medal is made of nickel silver.

Obverse: above is the logo of the National Bank of Ukraine, below which is the legend НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ/ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine); there is a stylized image of a fragment of the NBU operations hall; in the center is the legend 2020; beneath is the mint mark of the NBU Banknote Printing and Minting Works.

Reverse: there is a fragment of a stained glass window pane (pad-printed) from the NBU’s main building; there is also the following circular legend: 115 РОКІВ БУДІВЛІ НАЦІОНАЛЬНОГО БАНКУ УКРАЇНИ (115 Years since the Construction of the NBU Building).
