The Literature Section of Numista aims to reference all printed publications of interest to numismatists and collectors of coins, banknotes, and exonumia.
Publications included must have an educational purpose or provide documentation value specifically within the field of numismatics (as defined here), such as numismatic academic journals, magazines for coin collectors, historical books with a strong focus on numismatics, museum collection catalogues and numismatic auction catalogues.
All printed formats are accepted, including books, journals, magazines, and articles.
However, works that only mention coins or banknotes without focusing on numismatics (for example, a general history book) or that lack educational or documentation value (for example, a novel featuring coins) are considered out of scope.
The fundamental unit of the catalogue is the volume. A volume can represent a single-volume book, one volume of a multi-volume book set, or an issue of a periodical. Different volumes and different editions of the same book are treated as different volumes in the catalogue.
Volumes can be organized into groups. The groups represent multi-volume books, book series published in multiple editions, and periodicals with multiple issues. The catalogue may also contain some groups of groups for more complex series.
The periodical issues and some books are collections of articles: shorter, self-contained texts with a distinctive title and author(s). These articles can be linked to the volume they are part of.
Additionally, articles can be grouped together to represent works published in multiple parts.
