Michel Amandry

Michel Amandry (born 1949) is a renowned French numismatist. A Doctor of Letters, he served as the head of the Department of Coins and Medals at the French National Library from 1991 to September 2013. He is also a director of studies at the École Pratique des Hautes Études, specializing in historical and philological sciences.

Specializing in Roman numismatics, Amandry has contributed to numerous reference works, including the Dictionnaire de numismatique and several scientific coin catalogs. He co-authored Roman Provincial Coinage, a major work published by the French National Library and the British Museum in 2016, alongside Andrew Burnett and Christopher Howgego.

His contributions to numismatics have earned him prestigious honors, including being named a Knight of the Legion of Honor in 2012.
