His numismatic journey began at the age of 10, initially collecting U.S. coins before expanding his focus to Swedish and Islamic coinage. He studied at the University of California, Berkeley, spending a year at the University of Lund in Sweden, where he worked at Bjarne Ahlstrom’s coin shop in Stockholm. In 1972, he co-founded Cordry & Craig International, a numismatic firm specializing in Scandinavian and Islamic coins. After managing his own mail-order numismatic business, he joined Heritage Auctions in 2003 as a cataloger, contributing his expertise to one of the world's leading auction houses.
