Comments

The Royal Australian Mint in conjunction with some Australian Newspapers released this NCLT coin as part of a 14 coin set in April 2017. The first coin came with a large folding album and the coins were issued in coincards. The series is called "Legends of the Anzacs - Medals of Honour".

To get a coin you had to obtain a token from the newspaper and redeem it at a cost of $3.00. Different tokens were published each day for 2 weeks (hence 14 coins). The coins are commemorating various service medals awarded to Australian Military personnel from the Boer War to the Afghanistan War.
Ten of the 14 coins released in the series are 20 cent coins and four of them are 25 cent coins.

This particular 20 cent coin refers to the Australian Operational Service medal which was instituted in 2014 and recognises Australian Defence Force service in the Middle East as part of Operations Manitou, Accordion, Okra and Highroad. The colours of its ribbon represent different aspects of the Middle East mission: bone for sand, green for Australia and hope, black for anti-piracy and blue for maritime and air operations.
