Commemorating the centenary of the Statue of Liberty (1886-1986)
Liberty illuminating the world.
the statue was offered by the French people to the Americans as a sign of friendship, and unveiled in the presence of U.S. President Grover Cleveland on October 28, 1886, to mark the centenary of the American Declaration of Independence. Placed on an island at the entrance to New York harbor.
