Medal issued to commemorate the visit of John Paul II, who had planned to attend the closing of the Eucharistic Congress in Lourdes in July 1981, but the bombing on May 13, 1981 prevented this trip. He finally came on pilgrimage to Lourdes on August 14 and 15, 1983.
