Series: Cotswold Head

Obverse

Moon head left represented by nose and stalk lips, ring for eye. Rings behind. Crescents and pellet rosettes (daisies) in front.

Reverse

Naturalistic horse right, single strand tail. V-shape or lyre below tail. Cruciform pattern of ring and crescents above. Large cross below with pellets at ends.

Comments

Healy Phase 2. Healy splits out the variations in design based on the symbols around the petal cross below the horse and the symbol below the tail. See COD 15 for right-facing obverses and COD 15ac for left-facing horses.
COD 15ae ‘Face Left'. Obverse face left, with two reverse types (11 known, 7 in Pershore Hoard):
COD 15ae/15t: Cross with pellet ends in top left angle, linear crescent with pellet above in top right, lyre (or sling) below tail. 2 known.
COD 15ae/15aa: Petal cross saltire with pellet in each angle, pellet cross to right, pellet and U or V under tail. 2 known.
