According to a postcard of the time, “The Pont Marguet was constructed under the administration of M. Fontaine, then Mayor of Boulogne, and inaugurated on September 27, 1853, by Napoleon III. This bridge played a crucial role in the city’s maritime and commercial expansion, allowing for better movement of goods and people between the harbor and inland areas.”.
