Abstract

"Triumfo", the official medal of the Summer Olympic Games, remained unchanged from 1928 to 1968, before the reverse was left free to each host country in 1972. However, Greece was always critical of this medal and demanded that it be redesigned for the 2004 Athens Games. Since then, the "Olympian Nike" type has become the new official type of medal for the Summer Games. For 2024, the Parisian jewelry house Chaumet and the Paris Mint have joined forces to manufacture the 5,084 Olympic and Paralympic medals for the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad, whose originality comes from one of the materials used: iron!
