Comments

The hummingbird is known as "Blenchi" in Papiamento. This special bird found in Aruba is often heard before it is seen. Because its wings can flap as fast as eighty times per second, the hummingbird makes a distinct buzzing sound. In addition, the hummingbird is one of the smallest birds in the world; some species are only six centimeters long. It loves nectar and uses its narrow beak to take it straight out of the flower's calyx. Because of its extraordinary flying technique it is able to hold the perfect position for sipping the nectar. This speedy bird is renowned for the stunts it performs in the air, and it can even fly backwards!
