Comments

Master dies for contracted minting by Heaton and King Norton mints for the Royakl Mint was produced with both H and KN mint marks, each mint was supposed to remove the extra mint mark prior to use. Sometimes they failed to do so or failed to do so at the beginning of the work resulting in combinations. Usually one of the mint marks is shows as weak, aka ghost mintmark, as it was filed off but not completely, in this case both are shown prominently. From A. Koifman Jr. collection.
