There is a catalog (see details below) that is one of the most extensive works on toy money / play money with a particular focus on British toy money of the 18th - 20th centuries, though toy money from other parts of the world are also included.  Some of the items listed in the Numista catalogue are described in this work as well as other items that I would like to add to the Numista catalog.  Despite being a rare book in its own right, I am personally in possession of a copy of this catalog and would like to update the relevant Numista listings with the additional information that can be found in this reference.  Details of the reference are the following:

Rogers, David J. de Sola. Toy Coins. Galata Print, Wolverhampton, UK, 1990.

ISBN 10: 0951667106

ISBN 13: 9780951667101

Examples of listings that could benefit from this reference are the following (though not even close to an exhaustive list):

N#373242

N#421753

N#373241

N#272038

N#171542

N#315822

N#56165

N#159854

N#332950

N#19752

N#368172

N#19751

N#21318

N#21318

N#41047

N#41158

Here is the table of contents. The main body of work includes 4500 listings with many more included as addenda in this catalog.

Isn’t the title of the book “Toy Coins”?

Referee for Exonumia from United States

Sorry, that was my mistake.  You are correct that the title is “Toy Coins".  The confusion arose because I was reading entries about toy paper money when I posted this catalogue.  I corrected the title in the original post.

What should we use as a code? (As KM is for Krause..)

Catalogue administrator

I would suggest using the author's initials, i.e., DJSR (David J. de Sola Rogers).

I wanted to suggest just Rogers, as that is the way it is usually used to catalogue these toy coins:

- on posts in this forum: https://www.predecimal.com/forum/topic/14392-toy-coins/?do=findComment&comment=206165

- in this German toy catalogue (as from p 462, where he desribed using the “Rogers” numbers) https://nnp.wustl.edu/library/book/624801

- on worldofcoins.eu http://www.worldofcoins.eu/forum/index.php/topic,444.msg1886.html#msg1886

- and here https://www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=122888#1067278

… nobody collecting these will recognize "DJSR"

But apparently we already have a catalogue using Rogers, so unless the Thessaly coinage can use another reference (or we can have two catalogues with identical name … no risk of mixing the two collecting fields 😉) … I might suggest to go for “Rogers (Toy)”, just to keep it short.

The collection of the Dr David J. de Sola Rogers was donated to the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge, that allows us to use their pictures. So an easy way to get basic images for all the different types. Pity they have not adopted the numbering from Rogers in their database :

Just call me Bram

No new swaps for the moment, still too many half-ongoing swaps to clean up!

I also originally wanted “Rogers”, but “Rogers (Toy)” is fine by me.

It's very fortunate that Rogers' collection is available.  I also happen to have #215, so I can eventually add that picture since the catalogue does not provide one since there is no picture provided in the catalogue.
