Unidentified Holed coin/token? Please help!

4 posts
Hi

We found this coin/token on a battle site in South Africa while metal detecting.
I know quite alot about identifying coins, but this is very strange to me.
Unfortunately I am still waiting for pictures of the cleaned coin/token from the archaeologist.
The writing seems Gothic script.
Any ideas?
1848 United Kingdom - model 1 Crown (missing middle part)

and also has the lower case Roman numerals mdcccxlviii below it.
I hope yours is around 26.6mm as you did not say.
They were like an early version of Monopoly money, and also called toy coins.
Thanks Zac! Always helpfull!
Not sure about size but seems right!
I made these images and rotated and cropped them to compare ...

and I also see the word Crown on your image. Pretty sure that is what it is.
