Signatures of Banknotes of the R.S.F.S.R. [solved]

I have compiled a list (soon to be requested to be added to Numista) of all signatures of banknotes of the R.S.F.S.R. It is linked here, and it may be commented on by anyone with more information on the signature or with suggestions about existing information. If you have anything to add, I do ask that you do, so as to make the information as accurate and complete as possible. Please also provide a link or photo to prove your information, if possible, in the event that you wish to contribute. It mostly requires transliteration from Cyrillic/Russian cursive signatures into Latin/English print, which I struggle with.

Edit:

Progress has been made, and we do have at least a last name for each signature as of today. If you have a clearer photo of any particular signature, most importantly of the ones highlighted in bright yellow, I request that you share it here for contribution.

Good luck to your project. This must be tough to find out who they are. I detailed what I collected too and even some of the modern banknotes, I have problems in identifying who the signatures are.

Thanks ahkai! Even when I have their full name and search it for years or something less important (in both Russian and English), I get zero results, or it just takes me back to the site where I found the name.

I see that the list of signatures needs corrections and additions

(Aleksandr Danilovich Shlezinger), mandate 1921-1929
RSFSR signature 56: П. (P. Yakonovsky) but his was accountant not member of the board
(Zakhariy Solomonovich Katsenelenbaum), mandate 1921-1930
(Nikolay Nikolayevich Kutler), mandate 1921-1924
(Pavel Aleksandrovich Sadyrin), mandate 1921-?

and so on

I used the first things that came to mind:

First I used Denisov's catalog to identify signatures

Second I used volume 17 of collection of State Bank's departmental materials to get some information about people

Thank you so much Felkisov! I’ll be sure to implement those changes and take a look into the two resources you mentioned.

Volume 17 of the archival fonds can be easily obtained from official site of Central Bank of Russia:

https://www.cbr.ru/about_br/publ/af/

Volume 17 - “Personnel” - contains not biographies, but soviet era documents on personnel matters. Although information you seek can be gleaned from the notes

The paper variant of Aleksandr Denisov's seven-volume catalogue is extremely hard to find. I personally use an old scanned pdf version.

You can find it here: https://disk.yandex.ru/d/E93I5q5C4bxC_Q/%D0%A0%D0%BE%D1%81%D1%81%D0%B8%D1%8F%2C%20%D0%A1%D0%A1%D0%A1%D0%A0/%D0%94%D0%B5%D0%BD%D0%B8%D1%81%D0%BE%D0%B2%20%D0%90.%D0%95. .

Let me know if you need any additional information

Thank you so much for both of these! I hope that they will prove useful for future research.

Russian titles corrected in accordance with modern spelling:

First Grade Cashier -

Second Grade Cashier -

First Grade Assistant Cashier -

Second Grade Assistant Controller -

Third Grade Assistant Controller -

Head of the Currency and Exchange Notes Department -

Member of the Board of the State Bank -

I have done all of the work going through Denisov's catalogues in my spare time. I cannot access the link provided by Feklisov to the Central Bank of Russia anymore, though. It says that it isn't available in my region. The entire Russian Central Bank website is unavailable by DDoS Guard, both on my laptop and phone.

I figured it might have full name information in an easier to find manner. If someone who does have access could sort through and possibly find the full names of people who don't currently have one here, it would be greatly appreciated.

Good job!

What if I upload volume 17 somewhere?

Also don't forget to correct Russian titles (see my post above).

I have a bunch of extra time this month, so I’ll definitely be working on updating everything that you mentioned Feklisov. If you could upload Volume 17, that would be amazing. Thanks for proofreading my research!

I uploaded volume 17. Here is the link:

It seems there's nothing more I can do. I had no more luck finding public information about the remaining signatories.

Boris Pirozhkov, who recently celebrated his 88th birthday, conducted significant research in his book “Paper Money of Russia 1898-1934”, but also claims that he did not find the full names of cashiers Gerasimov and Kolosov. He only refers to Kolosov as "I. Kolosov" (И. You need to check his book to find mandate years for the remaining cashiers.

Payment obligations and state treasury notes are not part of Pirozhkov’s work, so he does not provide the names of the signatories. Apparently someone has yet to do some serious research in the archives, as I see.

Thank you so much for all your help Feklisov! I will work on retrieving that information over the course of this week. French and Spanish translation from more fluent speakers than I should be done by then as well, so hopefully they can be added to the catalogue in the next couple of weeks.
