This is part of another more general topic: https://en.numista.com/forum/topic144509.html

Currency code: 3059 • catalonia_principality
There are 34 coins with denomination of 5 Groats, that should use the denomination of 5 Reales (the design of these coins has lettering “5 R”).

Now these coins use the denomination (and only is used in these coins… review, please!):

27270 • 3059 → 5 Groats - 1/2

According with the topic in Spanish https://es.numista.com/forum/topic145005.html the real has this relationship and value:

Relationship: 1 Libra = 10 Reales
Value: 1 Real (1/10) → 5 Reales = 5/10 = 1/2

Denomination

The denomination 5 Groats should be renamed to

(EN) 5 Reales

(ES) 5 reales

(FR) 5 réaux https://www.dictionnaire-academie.fr/article/A9R0711-A

(local) 5 rals https://ca.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ral

(numeric value is same: 1/2).

Titles of coin pages

Also, the titles of these 34 coins should be renamed to

(EN) “5 Reales …”

(FR) “5 réaux …”

Subdivisions

Add relationship 1 Libra = 10 Reales and apply order https://en.numista.com/help/add-or-modify-a-currency-in-the-catalogue-194.html (move Florin):

In reality, the R on these coins does not stand for Real, but for Ral. This word is not from Spanish or Catalan, but a deformation of Reyal or Real.
What appears on these coins is V R, which reads 5 Rals.

I will correct it.

I found “reyal” https://an.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reyal_(moneda) in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aragonese_language

Is this not correct?

The local name saves the name(s) of denomination, the language name(s) are indifferent (I think they are not saved). Can be:

(local) 5 rals, 5 reyals

I was convinced that the word Ral was the Catalan word to define the Real currency. In fact, that word is used almost exclusively for that, since the translation of Real (not currency) would be Reial (Palacio Real = Palau Reial).

Numista does not translate from Catalan, but Google does. 😄

According to this, I think my suggestion is correct. The local name is “5 rals” (or “5 rals, 5 reyals”), and the name in EN/FR/ES is the translation.

The numeric value of the coin is 5 Groats or 5 Reales, is the same, but the lettering say “5 R” (5 rals in Catalan), because of this I suggest use the denomination of 5 Reales in English, and so on in the other languages.

Changed the titles of 34 coins to 5 Reales  in English et à 5 réaux en français.
