Possible 1906 China 10 Cash-Guangxu dragon design variety not catalogued??

Hello,

I was searching in the Numista catalogue last night for this coin but can't seem to find an entry with my obverse dragon design. The reverse of the coin seems to be the same as the one found in 10 Cash - Guangxu (With minting authority) - Empire of China – Numista, but parts of the obverse is clearly different (e.g. the pearl has 5 flames rather than 6; the “W” cloud below the pearl is in another position).

Can anyone confirm for me that this is a variety that hasn't been entered?

Where on earth did you get that?

Just a normal eBay listing

How do you know the year?

How do you know the year?

The two Chinese characters at 10 and 2 o'clock position reveals the mintage year. I found this handy reference in Wikipedia:

Great Qing Copper Coin - Wikipedia

巳乙[18]

1906

午丙[18]

1907

未丁[18]

1908

申戊

1909

酉己

1910

戌庚

1911

Actually, my coin is minted in 1907, not 1906.

Indeed they use the traditional Chinese cyclic calendar on these coins, this particular one being Fire Horse or the 43rd combination of the sexagenery cycle. So it should be 1906 don't know why it is moved one year. Maybe someone simply added 1864 + 43 which would of course be wrong because year 1 is 1864 not 1865.

And Wikipedia seems to use Numista as a source which is quite strange with our site not having even a rudimentary public sourcing system.
