details about these

I really don’t know much about coins and what you see in the photos are coins I’ve collected when they wound up in my hand because I thought they were cool looking. I would put them in a pouch and now 20 years has gone by since I looked at them. Are any of the coins in photos considered more “rare”. Not so much interested in value because I’m not sure if these are worth getting an appraisal on. But if you think I should get them appraised, let me know.

I have a general idea about what these are but I’m curious about what variations these are. What kind of details do you look for when looking at a coin?

Hello and welcome to Numista!

May I suggest rather than posting pictures of many coins you try to fine each in the Numista catalog. For most you will fine values listed. Some will be worth only the value written on the coin. Some are silver and can be sold easily by their weight.  When done, come back with those you can't find (one per post) to get help.

Here are 3 to get you started:

And this will help you search:

How can I search the catalogue?

Good luck!

Yeah so I did that for three hours yesterday. That led me to reading about what kind of things make a coin valuable and what to look for >> then what makes the specific coins I have valuable >> then back to figuring out the variations of the coins I have >> ultimately leading me to the volatility of modern coins like the ones I have. Considering this is   the first time I’ve ever looked at any type of coin website, I realized coins are really, really damn complicated.  So after all that ended up where I started.

my point is that this is very complicated and for somebody who knows nothing about it. I don’t know how much of a help I can be to myself to be fair, but to be fair to you I did put a ton of effort into trying to figure it out.

Which led me to the question of not necessarily are these coins worth money,  but rather, if these were your coins, would you get an appraisal on these and would you get them graded?

None of these would I appraise or grade. The non silver coins are just spare change in their respective countries. The silver halves are worth their silver weight (at least 20x FV)
