The Belgian mint “Fonson” (different names during its history) was founded in 1827 (to be changed on the mint page):

mint page: Fonson, Brussels, Belgium – Numista

history source: Nalatenschap Fonson - Levende geschiedenis Belgische revolutie

It went broke in 1968 as correctly stated on the numista mint-page.

However the company was bought up several times to end up in the hands of “P. De Greef Medals” (Antwerp) in 2021:

Fonson Coins: Eeuwenoude erfenis, nieuwe ambitie | P. De Greef

In 2024 they resurected the name Fonson as a brand to issue shiny round “coins” with “Fonson” as brand name.

What to do with these very different medals originally form the Fonson family in Brussels and later NIFC just under a brand name “Fonson” in Antwerp (if even minted there). Do we split the mint in 1968?

Just call me Bram

No new swaps for the moment, still too many half-ongoing swaps to clean up!

I would have created new mint.

Created new mint in Antwerp now. Would be nice to know if they are actually a mint though.

On the same topic, is Fibru a mint or issuer? They have the exact same address as Fisch
