Probably struck at different mints.
Aidan.
I would expect nothing else. Still I believe it's a counterfeit.
Looks like a classic weak strike to me, it is also slightly off-centre which might indicate that the press is in transition from either starting up or being shut down. Which in turn caused the weak strike.
I think it’s highly unlikely that forgers are producing fake Bulgarian 50 cents, especially as the metal looks spot on, I am no metallogist but surely Nordic Gold is harder to fake, than say a pure single element coin?
The poor quality coins are real. The working theory from euro collectors is that the poor quality coins were struck in Bulgaria and the good quality coins in Slovakia, but this hasn't been confirmed yet.
So we'll wait and see.
Are there actually any 50c faked? would someone really fake a low value coin?

According to some ECB statistics I have read a while ago, apparently yes, they are faked. Although I have never noticed anyone find one or found one myself
From my knowledge and experience, the majority of current circulation coin forgery is local and not coordinated, ie it is opportunistic, but often by organised crime groups to fool automated machines, parking, cigarette, game etc. Often the simplest highest value coin is targeted, the round UK £1 is a good example because it was a single composition compared to the £2 coin which was/is bi-metallic. So maybe the 50€cents would be more desirable than the 1€ or 2€ coins to fake, however these fakes are often very crude, concentrating on weight, shape and size to fool the machines, where a human would recognise quite quickly something was off with the metal. This is why I believe the OPs coin is real because Nordic Gold is a more complicated mix to match than the soft Nickel Brass of the £1 coins.
On the other side of the forgery scale is the high value notes, this is where organised crime groups are coordinated, the notes are designed to fool humans, be produced in large numbers in the highest denominations and often have the backing of countries opposed to the government or institution producing the currency. A simple example of this would be a certain country opposed to the EUs values and democracy helping organised crime groups produce large quantities of Euros to undermine or help determine certain local situations within the EU, the crime group of course will help just to make money, gain experience and produce the notes for their own need after the fact.
