The double rim on the denomination side makes me wonder if it has been modified.

 

If that isn't the case, could you use a mirror to show both sides in one image and provide images of the edge?

Die rotation. Nothing else makes sense. Unless somebody removed the center cut in in half in thickness and reassembled it which seems like an awful lot of trouble to then put it back into circulation.
