How to treat place holders in Numista?

5 posts • viewed 60 times

Hi,

I'm sitting putting coins from India, I got in a swap, into my numista collection (and my parallel Excel collection).

One of the coins, a 5 rupee from 2021H, which is of a very low grade, so in Numista I want to treat as a “placeholder”. For me, it means, that I want Numista to treat as a coin present in my collection, but also a coin I'm searching for (to replace the placeholder).

It's a kind of dilemma, since Numista only knows I have the coin, so Numista will not search for it in any future swaps! But if there was an indicator to be used, like in my graphic, I would be mighty happy.

This suggestion as aired already in 2023…..

I saw that suggestion. Until it gets implemented (if ever) you could add your place holder coin on the Undetermined year line like this:

That way it's in your collection but won't stop that year from being shown when you have “show only years I don't have” selected.  Also you can easily find all your place holders with a simple search:

N#161818

I understand the idea and agree, it would work.

But I cannot find the undetermined here?

So how do I find that?

You either click on the ‘add to my collection’symbol above the year list or change to it manually after you clicked one of the symbols in the year lines.

So I get this:

That's only a work-around, but OK!
