2 Dinara 1925 - Possible Essai / Trial Strike - 180° rotation

Hello everyone, I need help identifying this 2 Dinara 1925 (Kingdom of SHS). After checking the Numista database and other catalogs, I noticed that all standard issues have medal alignment (uparrowuparrow).

However, my coin has a perfect 180° monetary rotation (uparrowdownarrow).

Specific details:

Rotation: 180 degrees (flipped).

Diameter: 27-28 mm ..Strike: Very sharp details on the hair and the wreath.

I cannot find any mention of this rotation for the 1925 circulation coins. Could this be a trial strike (Essai) or an extremely rare rotated die error from the Poissy mint?

Any information would be greatly appreciated

It actually says “coin alignment” in here…: N#4923

Actually, that is why I suspect this might be an Essai. From my research, the standard issues for 1925 are medal alignment (uparrowuparrow), but my coin has a 180° rotation (uparrowdownarrow).

Combined with the exceptionally sharp details on the hair and wreath, which are not typical for a circulation coin, the rotation suggests this is a trial strike rather than a regular minting error. Are there any known records of 1925 Essai coins specifically having this inverted alignment?"

Actually, that is why I suspect this might be an Essai. I have searched extensively online and in catalogs, and there is no mention of a standard circulation coin from 1925 having a 180° rotation (uparrowdownarrow). All known circulation issues are medal alignment (uparrowuparrow).

I have one, can confirm it is in coin alignment.

(Edit, 90% sure, will check when I have time)

:)

"Interesting. Is your coin a confirmed Essai (Trial Strike) or a standard circulation issue? Since the standard catalogs for 1925 usually list medal alignment (uparrowuparrow), I'm trying to determine if both of our coins belong to a specific rare trial batch or if the catalogs are simply incorrect."

The standard issue should be coin alignment. If you are sure it's not, just provide a trustworthy source 🤗. For example, p. 153:

You are barking up the wrong tree, those coins from both mints, are coin aligned, as everybody tells you.

Here is the Pattern/Essai coin page: N#316399 It also is coin alignment as are all known circulation issue 1925 coins.  What catalog are you looking at?

Combined with the exceptionally sharp details on the hair

Exceptionally sharp details on the hair???

I only see a coin in exceptionally bad condition.

Thank you all for the clarification. I was confused by some old catalogs and online searches that claimed the orientation should be 'medal alignment'. After checking my coin and reading your comments, I can confirm that mine is also coin aligned (↑↓), just like you described. It seems the catalogs are indeed incorrect regarding the 1925 2 Dinara issue."
