I'll be in Stockholm for a couple of days on business.
Does anyone know any good old-fashioned coin shop, where I can upgrade my Scandinavian collection?
(I only know the one in the Royal Coin Cabinet on Gamlastan)
Thanks in advance.
Unfortunately I cannot help you, but I´m interested in this thread and I would like to ask (and avoid creating another thread) if someone can recommend a good coinshop/market in:

- Helsinki
- Tallinn
- Riga
- Vilnius
and again...
- Stockholm

I hope that being two to ask, the answer might be more effective hehehe!
I know in Riga 2 very good coins shops. But note that there is a price 20% higher than the real market price.

Coins shops in Scandinavian countries, tend to be very expensive. So do not forget your credit card!  :D

Maybe I shall bring some of my duplicates and sell there  :O
Okay, answering myself, and those interested, I was using this link:
http://www.nelso.com/se/stockholm/coin-dealers-and-supplies/

and visited number 1 and 2 shops, on the map.
Dutchgalego was very right.
Anything interesting (to me) started at EUR 110,- for 5 Öre 18xx; then the Rijksdalers I was really curious about, started from SKK 2700,- (eur 314.862 EUR-ish)** and a real lovely piece was about EUR 1,434.41**.

So, even though I had my creditcard, I didn't really use it  B)

However, I should have taken my own joke seriously. I had a nice chat with the lady in the Strandberg Mynthandel (shop2 on map) and discussed some Austrian, Hungarian Thalers... next time I bring her some, she is happy to pay about 160% as purchase price.

I have shown her this one: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces37186.html which I have on my swaplist for a while for a swap value of EUR260, she said she could pay me EUR380-400 for that, but of course she needs to see it.

I should leave this stressful business life and just travel around the world buying and selling coins  8)

Skål from Stockholm, it's time to have an extremely expensive and very cold beer!  B) [for EUR 6.41428! - in my country it would be: EUR 0.995690] **

** http://www.xe.com/ was used for currency conversion B)
Let me know if your wanderings ever bring you to the Tampa Bay area.

I'm on first name terms with every coin dealer and bartender in the county. We need an alpha male convention!
Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.
Make Numismatics Great Again!
Sure, Phil,
although it is very unlikely that my wanderings will ever take me to the US again...
Imreh, despite all those high prices the Scandinavian countries do have really wonderful coins.
Forget the high values and invest some bucks. B)

Which Swedish daaler are you looking for? B)

oh, nothing in particular. World coins for me (unlike Austria-Hungary, the Ottomans and the Romans) are an undefined emotional hunting territory. I love to get some lovely pieces without the wish to complete a collection.

As you know my son studies in the Hague, so hence we have made a wonderful Dutch swap (looking for the next round! :) ) - and since I have closed a large Europe-wide business deal in Stockholm, I was looking to celebrate that with a Rijksadaaler and a Guiness.

I have only managed to get the Guiness  B)

Imreh,

I do have a good friend (we play chess at the same club) who has some very old Rijksdaaler coins, but he doesn't want to sell them.
Why don't you ask your son to take a look at marktplaats.nl ...?
You can find there all kind of coins in there for very good prices.

Concerning swaps, you just need to ask me the coins that you need and I'll find my way through your swaplist. You still have a 50 haleru from Moravia in there which I need to complete my Moravian collection.

Greetings from Holland, Tony

I'll make sure the Moravia haleru stays there for you! :D

As for my lovely son, I think the only thing knows about coins, is that you can buy Heineken for them  :wiz:
