I have been looking for a good way to make my own crude world coin type-set albums: like the infamous Dansco 7070 USA type set.
I know a certain company made a few world type albums in the 60s, but that was a long time ago and now they're expensive and out of date.
I have been thinking of doing something clever with cardboard, but do you guys have a favorite method?
There is also the option of getting a binder page to put 2x2s in, but that isn't as fun, and I have seen some good photoshop mock-ups:

I don't believe I have any photos, but eons ago, I bought one of those cork maps of Europe. A bit like this one:
And I would use two very thin nails, slightly curve the ends up, and drop the coin so that it would balance between the nails, with the slight curve preventing it from slipping off forwards. I also had the map itself tilted back, again so coins didn't jump out.
Hope that makes some sense.
Could do that on a world map, or any map of your choosing available I suppose. Doesn't even need to be a cork map, could just be a paper one backed onto some sort of board.
Downside is very much size. A lot of coins end up “invading” at least part of another country. This becomes a problem when you have a cluster of nations in a small area. On my Europe map, I had this issue in Benelux, Baltics, & Balkans.
Globally… I would expect the Caribbean, Central America, parts of Africa (especially the Benin-y area) & the ‘stans’ to have this issue as well. Possibly also the Oceania island groups too.
Most of them you could work around with some placement on the nearby oceans instead of directly above the landmass.
One nice thing is that you can simply swap coins out at your leisure (usually you don't even need to adjust the nails, unless coin is much smaller or larger), or remove to examine.
Downside of course is you only get one per nation (unless they're really huge nation space wise! Or teeny-tiny coins 🤣).
I got rid of mine when I wanted to focus more heavily on my UK coins & less on global. But it was nice on display at the time. 🙂
