What is the AA and AB and so on?
Hi

I have same question.
Did you find any answers?
Hello,

Thanks a lot
These are the different die mint marks AA AB AC AD AE and can't remember if there is an AF.

They go up to H - see above (Gibraltar, but same mint) link !
Not sure if it is used with A as well, to make AH - and also there can be differences on where the mintmarks are on the coin, even with AA - in that when AA is worn or broken they sometimes put another AA on, and sometimes in different areas, slightly. Obviously sometimes they do go to AB next.

I didn't know that...thanks. I like AA personally, it is so easy to spot! Especially on the 1997 50 pence (Isle of Man).
