Crematory Tags found in coin lot. What to do with them?

8 posts
Hey everyone! Just got back from a coin show, I was looking through a junk bin when I came across these two crematory tags. For those of you that don't know what they are, they are chained to peoples corpses before cremation so the ashes can be identified. At first I simply found them interesting and spent a few dollars on them. Now I'm just getting a strange feeling about them but still find them interesting. What would you do with them? Most people that find them metal detecting just throw them out into the ocean. Thanks!
Pretty creepy. If you don't feel comfortable owning them, toss 'em on eBay (or better yet, Etsy - vintage! macabre! memento mori! barn wood! etc.).
Because of what they are, I'd throw them in the ocean also ...

Do not argue with ignorant people .. !! They will drag you down to their level, then pulverize you with experience ...

I think it would be highly unethical to sell them on eBay!  A bit different when they are sold in a junk bin because the coin seller probably didn't even give them a second's thought.  I would keep them for interest's sake, or chuck them away, but not sell them.
Might be quite fun to try and track down the family and return them.
Because I live on the seaside they would be going in the ocean however.. If you don't it would be the bin.
The one on the right, if you live close, I would go to the place and give to the cemetery. The other one I would throw in the sea.
Give them to people you dislike with your best evil grin, lean in real close and say, "See you soon, real soon."
Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.
