It would be better to delete all the posts not pertaining to the original content than to lock the post.
We finally had a really good forum article and some silly behavior messes that up?

  Just because some over sensitive school child insults you is no reason to respond back. This is to no one in particular, it's to all of us. When some one says something on a post that is insulting to you or others, but not pertaining to the original content or subject, it would be best to simply ignore it, or for the moderator to delete it. It would be best to only skip over it and continue commenting only on the original content.
