Quote: eitan190How can we tell if it is small medium lettering?
"Large" lettering type is rare, - its a type with dots between words and letters without serifs.
All other 4 types are "small", " medium" or combination of these two.
No problem to recognize
Step1: Look at mintmark: Heaton ( H) , or Calcutta ( CM)
Step 2. Heaton Mint is only 1.3 and 1.4
1.4 is only type, which is rare, and inscription is like IMPERIAL . BRITISH . EAST . AFRICA ( but dots are in the middle of letter distance)
1.3 is a type with " medium/medium" so both sides lettering are same
Step 3. Calcutta Mint
1.1 1.2 and 1.5
1.1 is easy if you already have " mediem/medium" . Letters are really small.
1.5 is same with Heaton1.3, but with CM instead of "H"
So, missed one is 1.2

its also easy to recogniize if you have all others,, or at least on of them - 1.1 or 1.3 or 1.5
but.. beter to show coins I think
This one is 1.4 - " Large letters"
This one is " small/small", so CM and KM 1.1
This is " medium/medium", CM, so KM 1.5
This is "medium/medium" H, so KM 1.3
I hope it will help You to find differences between these 5 types.
YOurs,
David
