In the UK this tiny peninsula isn't sold very well. Most people think you can do it in a day. And you can but not everything and you'll never take it all in. I would say you need to go around the upper Rock at least twice to appreciate everything. 3 days would be enough I think.
Gibraltar has a proud history of issuing all denominations in a commemorative style. For me it was amazing to see these buildings and animals come to life in the "country" which issue them.
You will be surprised by how modern the place is but also has a romantic antiquity too it. The city walls are still there and are amazing. I regret not eating in one of the restaurants which occupy them. Their coins are harder to get in commerce as you may think although simply ask and they're more than happy to help. The 1, 2 pence coins don't seem to circulate so much and I can only assume this has something to do with their very close relationship with Spain.
I only managed to get a very small amount my of £2 coins from here and I was told everywhere I went they're extremely rare. I'm not sure if maybe they're just not liked or if they may well be a coin tourists like to keep. I must say that I was shocked to find some, given the amount of tourists who must carry them away and the fact the souvenir shops like to put them in their magnets.
Obviously I bought one !
I'll upload pictures soon as I still don't have them all on my PC of buildings, flora & fauna come life.
But on my own experience here I think anyone who has Gibraltar coins will really enjoy this small dot on the map - it's fantastic !
