Hi Ole, I think it's a 1959, and not only because the 1958 isn't supposed to exist:
Because the date is following the rim I turned the picture of the date a bit to get the last digit in an upright position. The green arrow is a perpendicular line through the last digit. The red arrows are following the contours of the digits. The left arrow is a copy of the right one, so they are identical. What you immediately see is that both contours are the same but also that the red arrow on the last digit is not symmetrical relative to the green arrow. If the last digit would be an 8, the contour at the bottom half should be symmetrical.
I think the biggest confusion to think it might be an 8 is because of that flaw on the last digit (the blue arrow is pointing at it). That's why I used a negative image, then it's even more obvious it's a flaw on the coin. You can see straight under the flaw, at the top of the red arrow, the contour of the digit makes a right angle (because of that flaw). If it would have been an 8, the contour would have been a nice bow instead of a right angle.
Conclusion: I'm pretty sure it's a 1959.
